Human Resources Manager - DEI & Operations 
Working from more than 30 offices nationwide, The Trust for Public Land’s 300 employees help communities raise funds, conduct research and planning, acquire and protect land, and design and renovate parks, playgrounds, trails, and gardens.

The HR team is looking to add a 4th member to add HR generalist capacity and to support organization wide organizational development activities.  This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced HR professional who enjoys being a hands on HR generalist, but has an aptitude and experience in organizational development and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives.

Essential Duties:

HR Business Partner Duties – Recruitment & Management Coaching –
  • Leads 2-5 recruitment full cycle recruitment efforts for assigned departments (Administration, National Programs, Marketing, Research & Innovation, Federal Relations). Responsible for a hands on approach to screening and interviewing candidates, interview logistics management, interview question creation, reference checking and job offers. Implements advanced sourcing strategies to identify and outreach to qualified candidates to support TPL’s Diversity Recruitment efforts.
  • For assigned departments, provides support to supervisors and staff via coaching and action planning on general management concerns – including performance issues, the annual review process, salary decisions, supervisory changes, etc.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
  • In partnership with HR Director and staff across the organization, coordinates and facilitates the implementation of TPL’s internally focused DEI Action Plan.  Includes but is not limited to: setting agendas, taking minutes, tracking progress, writing reports or presentations, recommending strategies and plans. 
  • Provide staff support to DEI related efforts in our field offices and Employee Resource/Affinity Groups as needed.
  • Supports efforts to enhance our employer brand with a DEI emphasis.  Keeps tabs on best practices in the field and insures that our employer marketing efforts  (tpl.org website, Glassdoor and Linkedin accounts, job postings etc.) reflect those best practices.
  • Support efforts to build and retain retaining a diverse pipeline of talent. May include piloting innovative recruitment techniques, project managing internship and fellowship programs, mentorship programs, etc.
Organizational Development Support
  • Supports departmental process improvement efforts including but not limited to researching best practices, convening and facilitation cross functional work groups, documentation of policies and practices, general project management and implementation.   For example, project management of the re-design and implementation of revised grading and salary structure and associated compensation philosophy.
  • Support Internal Communications function. Works with appropriate stakeholders on relevant internal communications efforts (drafting blogs, writing talking points for directors, outreach to staff for stories, editing documents, etc.).  Supports efforts to enhance the clarity and effectiveness of TPL’s intranet.
  • Support staff engagement and morale initiatives.  May include implementation and management of engagement and pulse surveys, establishment of dashboards or other reports, project management of action plans and follow up as needed.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, HR certificate strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience.
  • Recruiting experience required.
  • Direct experience supporting DEI diversity initiatives required, including agenda setting and meeting facilitation.
  • Experience working with a PEO helpful.
  • Project management skills. Demonstrated experience implementing new policies and practices.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work well with others including different functional areas within region as well as national departments.
  • Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, promptness and dependability.
  • Able to work with a high degree of self-direction and flexibility, especially with respect to taking initiative, prioritizing multiple tasks, and using excellent judgment to resolve problems.
  • Able to provide information and guidance to other employees in a compassionate, discreet way.
  • Willingness to travel once offices re-open
