Position Summary: This is a temporary, full-time, exempt position with an anticipated end date of July 24, 2026.
The person in this position will deliver TPL’s mission of conserving land for people by utilizing nonprofit land acquisition techniques and sound business practices. The Project Manager will support WA Conservation Director, Senior Project Manager, and Special Counsel on complex projects and may own a portfolio of projects. This role requires an ability to quickly develop relationships with internal stakeholders and key external stakeholders including local, state and federal agencies, tribes, community groups, and private landowners, to protect priority lands.
The ability to work independently is essential. Tasks include working with the Washington State Conservation Director to support current and to develop pipeline projects. This role may also work, with guidance from WA Conservation Director, as primary or co-project manager on a conservation project that advances TPL’s mission and fundraising goals. The person in this role will also occasionally assist with strategic planning, collaborate with TPL’s national team, and support marketing and philanthropy. The position will be assigned to the Seattle, WA office.
Essential Functions:
Supports WA Conservation Director with current projects and developing future projects.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with key local, state, and federal agencies, tribes, and non-governmental organizations, and supports TPL’s external affairs and public relations efforts.
Understands and supports WA Conservation team pursuing public funding through local, state and federal grant programs, including grant proposal preparation.
Manage and/or support successful conservation transactions. This includes contracting for and reviewing appraisals and environmental assessments, reviewing title and other legal documents, and preparing documents for internal approvals.
Strong commitment to TPL’s shared values (Belonging, Creativity, Collaboration, Impact, and Hope) to effectively work across the organization.
3-5 years of conservation real estate experience preferred. Familiarity with the Washington market, land transaction tools, and funding sources are a plus.
This position requires moderate travel. Evening and weekend work on occasions.
Bachelor's degree preferred.

Compensation: Trust for Public Land is a hybrid work environment, and this role will ideally be located near a Trust for Public Land office. As a temporary, full-time employee, you will be eligible for the Trust for Public Land’s following benefits: medical, dental, and vision insurance, sick pay, and a 403(b)-retirement plan, currently with up to a 7% company match. We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience; the anticipated hiring range for this position is $72,301-$87,638 per year.
