The Associate Director, Marketing Planning & Operations is a strategic leader within the Marketing, Communications and Membership Department, who thrives at driving the operations of a dynamic, high performing team. They understand how to create efficient business processes, to utilize technology to help remote teams be more coordinated and are able to operationalize big ideas into actionable plans. They are strategic and self-motivated to advance the things that matter most for the organization and have great attention to detail. The Associate Director will be responsible for managing the department’s portfolio of priorities that span multiple offices, departments and programs. They manage a Sr Project Manager and a Marketing Coordinator. They are a member of the Marketing, Communications & Membership Leadership Team and report to the Senior Director of Engagement and Experience.
The Associate Director, Marketing Planning & Operations will work with the Sr. Director of Engagement and Experience and the Marketing, Communications & Membership Leadership Team to establish and track against the priorities, goals and success factors for the department. They will manage the progress of the department’s portfolio of priorities, integrate new priorities, track against quarterly KPIs, and develop action plans with input from key stakeholders and team members to meet those goals. They work with the CMCO to oversee and create the department budget, and support department directors with monitoring budgets, contracts and RFPs with external agencies and freelancers. The Associate Director brings experience in marketing and communications to identify process improvements, automations and opportunities to streamline marketing operations within the department and across the organization.
This position can be located near any of our 30 offices across the country and fully remote candidates will also be considered.
Lead all planning and operations for the department.
Support department budget managers with budgeting, contracts and invoices allocation; support CMCO with overall department financials.
Manage all systems and tools critical for team success, including Asana, SharePoint, intranet site and more.
Operationalize department norms and identify areas for improvement.
Develop a comprehensive marketing calendar and use it to track department projects and priorities to support team capacity planning.
Interface with other departments to drive alignment with marketing processes and planning.
Support department and project leaders with project management by setting timelines, driving agendas, taking notes and ensuring follow-ups are clear and communicated effectively.
7-10 years in a marketing and communications operations role.
Experience managing department financials, reporting and KPIs monitoring.
Experiencing managing complex teams with project management tools and processes.
Strategic problem solver with a self-starter attitude.
Collaborative and pragmatic with a proven ability to bring teams together.
Experience working across matrixed organizations to drive desired outcomes.
