Associate Director of Membership, Digital - Location Flexible

The Associate Director of Membership, Digital contributes to Trust for Public Land through the acquisition of unrestricted, national revenue for the organization through the management and continuous improvement of digital strategies to acquire, renew, and upgrade Annual Giving donors.

The position is responsible for driving a digital fundraising strategy that includes overseeing and monitoring more than 10 digital fundraising campaigns per year, digital advertising and digital donor acquisition.  While their responsibilities are primarily fundraising in nature, they are also a key strategic partner in understanding and developing a full donor journey.

The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, enthusiastic, KPI and deadline driven, and has prior experience with digital fundraising, online engagement, and digital CRMs, including Luminate Online or a similar platform. Knowledge of digital fundraising best practices and experience working with Direct Response agencies are essential.

The Associate Director works collaboratively with the entire Annual Giving, Marketing & Communications and Philanthropy teams as well as other groups within Trust for Public Land. They are a key leader on the Annual Giving team and they will report to the Director of Annual Giving.

This position reports directly to TPL’s Marketing Director who is based in Denver Colorado and the position can be located in any TPL office.

  • Lead the operational management of TPL’s digital fundraising program – including managing a seven-figure budget, program expenses and interacting with and guiding vendors who implement the program’s efforts.
  • Develop strategies to acquire new donors and build the organizations’ email file.
  • Ensure fundraising campaigns meets their objectives including response rate, gross and net revenue, revenue per donor and more.
  • Work with Marketing team to ensure TPL’s brand is consistent across all digital fundraising campaigns and fundraising appeals are aligned with marketing priorities where applicable.
  • Coordinate with Marketing team to promote fundraising campaigns in owned channels including TPL.org, social media and non-fundraising emails.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Direct Mail fundraising to ensure cross channel fundraising strategies are in place.
  • Work closely with state teams on acquiring new information/themes for campaigns.
  • Develop and present reporting on the digital fundraising program, by campaign and holistically.
  • Develop extensive testing plan to ensure continual improvement.
  • Research and implement emerging digital giving trends, technologies, and techniques.

  • Minimum of five years of digital fundraising experience.
  • Experience using eCRM platforms such as Luminate Online.
  • Expertise with digital donor acquisition strategies and best practices.
  • Experience working with and managing agency partners and multiple vendors.
  • Experience with basic HTML coding for emails, graphic design (Adobe Suite), and editorial style and standards guides a plus.
  • Copywriting and editing experience highly desirable.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well both independently and cooperatively; proven success working as member of a team.
  • Experience fundraising for a national, geographically dispersed non-profit organization is desirable.
  • Interest and commitment to Trust for Public Land’s mission is essential.

We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience; this position’s salary range is around $100,000 annually.
