CRM Systems Programmer/Analyst - Location Flexible - Fully Remote

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy CRM (CRM Director), the CRM Systems Programmer/Analyst shares responsibility for system administration, data management, user support, and reporting of the Constituent Relationship Management system (ClearView CRM) and related systems. The Programmer/Analyst provides strategic support and solutions that leverage The Trust for Public Land’s information, technology, and business processes for the entire Philanthropy department of about 90 individuals located throughout the U.S., and the organization at large.

The Programmer/Analyst will support the CRM Director’s overall vision for ensuring that Philanthropy staff and the greater TPL customer base have the support resources they need to realize their goals. This position directly supports our marketing and communication efforts in cooperation with data stewards in other departments. This person participates in end-user support functions including business analysis, report generation, documentation, training, and service desk operation.

Responsibilities
  • Maximize the potential of systems and information to increase Philanthropy support of The Trust for Public Land and its mission;
  • Analyze and assess systems and processes, and recommend enhancements to ensure Philanthropy systems support TPL’s short-term and long-term goals;
  • Manage information moving in and out of the Philanthropy CRM, including designing business rules or procedures for imports and administering exports or automated procedures for integrations with other systems;
  • Analyze, develop, and maintain CRM data solutions, including defining, implementing, and editing code to improve and facilitate access, understanding, and integrity;
  • Develop and support ad-hoc or recurring reports, queries, dashboards, data visualizations, and scorecards that answer specific business questions;
  • Create, execute, schedule, and maintain queries and scripts using SQL, PL/SQL, Windows batch scripting, and Python;
  • Use GIT version control software to track and manage changes to code;
  • Help develop, direct, and participate in user training and ongoing support;
  • Work collaboratively and cohesively within the CRM Team, customers, and consultants;
  • Interface with staff, administration, and subject matter experts to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions;
  • Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and eliminate root cause for data problems or justify solutions to be implemented by others;
  • Identify and assist with deployment of future data projects and serve as liaison between consultants, vendors, and various technical, operational, and donor facing teams;
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion to maintain confidentiality of privileged information;
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions, requesting clarification when needed;
  • Partner with fellow team members to define, pursue, and execute best practices;
  • Foster a pleasant and appealing work environment;
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business analytics, a related field, or a significant and comparable combination of education, training, and experience;
  • Experience using tools and strategies for project management, collaboration, and personal productivity;
  • Minimum of 3 years proficiency in
    • Database or information systems, to include data definition, manipulation, extraction, transformation, and load in and across varied, complex systems using SQL, Python, and/or other relevant scripting languages, APIs, and tool sets;
    • Developing reports, dashboards, data visualizations and scorecards using BI software like Tableau, Power BI, or Jaspersoft Studio;
    • Analyzing, developing, reporting from, and maintaining CRM database systems and/or similar technologies;
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems with critical thinking;
  • Strong analytical and research skills; ability to gather, evaluate, and to develop well-reasoned conclusions and recommendations;
  • Preference for experience with:
    • ClearView CRM, and Jaspersoft BI;
    • Service desk/issue tracking systems (like Jira);
    • Software version control;
    • Collaborating with vendors and consultants.
  • Experience in these Microsoft products is considered a plus: Dynamics 365 and the related Nonprofit Accelerator, Power BI, and Power Automate
