Program Coordinator for NYC Playgrounds Program

Position Summary:

The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the tracking and coordination of specific aspects of a program that creates new community playgrounds in schoolyards in New York City neighborhoods.  A special feature of this program is extensive involvement by a local school and community in the design and operation of the playgrounds. Secondarily, the Program Coordinator will assist in overall office management.

This position is 4 days a week. 
Main Responsibilities:

Fundraising, Marketing:  Assist Program Director and Philanthropy and Public Relations regional staff by creating materials for funding or public relations purposes.

Data/Mapping/Research: Assist Program Director and NYS Director to gather data, create reports and maps or coordinate creation of maps with National GIS team. Enter playground projects into National Project Tracking System.

Design and Construction Liaison:  Assist Program Director with construction bidding process, including preparing necessary paperwork, organizing billing, communicating with landscape architect, contractors and government officials to ensure that invoices are paid in a timely manner. 

School/Community Engagement Coordination:  Assist Deputy Director and Program Manager in scheduling meetings and corresponding with schools and community groups engaged in our participatory design or stewardship programs.                                                  

Information Technology: Assist office staff with routine computer inquires or help connect them with National IS Support to resolve issues.
Office Support:  Assist office staff and office manager with routine support tasks such as sorting mail, filing, and ordering and stocking supplies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required. 
A minimum of two years full-time work experience in areas an office setting is required.
The optimal candidate will have a proven record and excellent skills in problem solving, written and oral communication, attention to detail and follow-through, and ability to manage and track multiple projects at different stages of progress.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and PhotoShop.
