Accounts Payable Accountant

Location: San Francisco, California

The Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for receiving, processing and scanning invoices on a weekly basis. In addition, the individual is responsible for assisting with expense report approval, weekly check runs and 1099 form preparation; audit research and other projects as assigned.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Receive, review and enter invoices from state offices
  • Ensure proper authorization for payment and if necessary, obtain such authorization
  • Data entry into Lawson for all approved invoices
  • Assist in preparing weekly check runs for review by Senior Accountant II
  • Obtain proper signatures and issue checks in a timely fashion
  • Scan invoices
  • Research stale checks and re-issue as needed
  • Review & approve Employee Expense Reports through Databasics
  • Journal Entries
  • Reconcile  assigned Balance Sheet accounts monthly
  • Assist in AP research for annual audit and 990 tax filing 
  • Assist in annual 1099 filing process
  • Other ad hoc projects as required
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • AA Degree in Accounting or equivalent course work.
  • Requires a minimum of 1 year of related experience in accounting and/or finance.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting applications. (MS Office, Word and Excel). Lawson & Databasics experience is highly desirable.
  • Attention to detail, diligence and commitment to excellence; requires a high degree of dependability, consistency and initiative.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
